BOMs Away – Memorial Day Floating Stars

Don’t look so surprised – I planned for Floating Stars to be on Memorial Day. Goodness, they are such an enjoyable project to work on throughout the month. I could make this my Quilts of Valor project forever.

Such an easy leader/ender to have around. It’s super fast to cut another round of background squares and focal fabric, and uses up a decent chunk of both. I’m moving right through my exceptionally-patriotic-background yardage. I did make the mistake of using directional fabric for the newest ones {still being an ender on my machine} so I’ve had to pay a bit more attention to that one.

At this point, I only need about five more blocks to finish two tops. I’m thinking scrappy RWB sashing with cornerstones from all the leftover background squares. I’ll be handing them off to our local Quilts of Valor coordinator just before we move, which will be perfect! Then I have all those corner cutoffs to play with…

Work on any blocks of the month? Or week? Link up here or at What a Hoot!

Looking good! I really must try a leader/ender project – it will use up some small pieces I have. Thanks for sharing on Midweek Makers!

Such simple blocks, but great visual impact! Thanks for linking up to Sew Some Love!

Love your stars! It is a perfect project for this weekend.

Your stars are lovely and yes, I AM impressed that you planned ahead to have such a nice themed post for Memorial Day!

Isn’t it amazing how quickly leaders & enders can add up to a bunch of blocks, or even a whole top! Your stars look terrific, and so appropriate for Memorial Day.
